Camp Shower

The camp shower consists of a raised platform that should be located near the evaporation pools. It has a pole structure to hold up some curtains, a soap platform, and an outlet pipe that should flow directly into an evaporation pool. There is also a pole structure to suspend the solar shower from.

Parts and Assembly

TODO: Take pictures and write up shower assembly instructions. Inventory platform dimensions and materials.

Rules of Engagement

In order to avoid over-taxing the evaporation pool capacity, the amount of water allowed for showers is limited.

  1. Every person in camp gets ONE shower allotted to them for the duration of camp.
  2. Each shower is limited to ONE gallon of water.
  3. Before taking a shower, check the evaporation pool capacity and that the shower pipe is draining directly into one of the pools. If you're not sure if the evap pools have enough capacity, check with the Eco Hat or another veteran.
  4. Shower curtains should be tied up with the provided rope/bungee when not in active use. Untied shower curtains will be quickly destroyed by wind and dust.
  5. No showers should be taken after the Friday immediately before the man burns. Camp teardown is on Sunday and the evap pools need time to completely dry.

If you make arrangements to bring in your own fresh water as well as transport the resulting grey water off-playa you're free to bypass rules 1 and 2. The main thing is that you are not allowed to use more than one gallon of camp water and/or put more than one gallon of grey water into the evap pools.

Other Notes

There should be a gallon jug or other measuring device available to measure out the one gallon allotment.

A good way to conserve water is to turn the shower valve on just long enough to get damp, turn it off, lather yourself up with soap, and use the rest of the water to rinse.
